What is an ADU?

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) are small secondary living spaces on the same property as a primary residence.  They have soared in popularity over the last several years as many states, counties, and municipalities have changed land use regulations to allow this type of expansion.

ADUs are often used for extended family residences, additional rental properties, and extra work or hobby spaces.

Predesigned for Faster Delivery

eLoghomes EasyCabinTM ADU’s are predesigned so you can start your construction process more quickly.

Our 4-Season ADU log cabin kits include materials to build the shell of your ADU log cabin, and the homebuyer will be responsible for all other building materials.  You will also supply the material for the top of the roof.

The shell installation utilizes the same process as our standard log cabin home models, making it fast and easy when you or your contractor is ready to build it.

Whether you own a log home already or live in another type of complementary design of home, an eLoghomes EasyCabinTM ADU is a great choice for quality, comfort, and character for additional living space on your current property.

Our eLoghomes EasyCabinTM ADU log home kits are offered at an everyday low price range of $35,000 – $55,000.
This includes the log walls, exterior windows and doors, decks (depending on the model), and all framing materials from floor to the roof.  Freight is not included in this price.  All ADU log cabin models are predesigned to an 80 lb. Ground Snow Load specification, ensuring durability and comfort as true 4-season log cabin ADUs.

ADU Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Do I Navigate Local Building Codes and Regulations?

    • Start with Your Local Planning Department. First stop: Your city or county’s planning or building department website (or office).
    • ADU rules vary broadly from one jurisdiction to the next – what’s allowed in one neighborhood might be prohibited in another.
    • Pro tip: Ask for an ADU-specific checklist. Many cities have guides that outline setbacks, height limits, parking requirements, and occupancy rules.
  • Understanding Zoning Laws, CC&Rs, and HOAs

    • Watch Out for HOA and CC&R Restrictions
    • Look for:
      • Minimum lot size requirements
      • Maximum square footage for ADUs
      • Height restrictions
      • Placement rules (setbacks from property lines)
      • Clarify Utility and Infrastructure Requirements
    • Even if your city says “yes,” your homeowner’s association (if you have one) may have its own rules.

    • Pro tip: Ask for an ADU-specific checklist. Many cities have guides that outline setbacks, height limits, parking requirements, and occupancy rules.
  • Can a log cabin be used as an ADU?

Yes. eLoghomes offers ADU log cabins that blend traditional craftsmanship with the flexibility of modern accessory dwelling units. Each eLoghomes EasyCabin™ log cabin ADU provides a fully functional secondary living space—perfect for family members, guests, hobbies, or work, or generating rental income. Our ADU log cabins are designed for year-round comfort and built with the same quality materials used in our standard log homes.

  • Do I need a separate foundation for an ADU / log cabin unit?

Yes. Every log cabin accessory dwelling unit requires its own foundation to meet structural and code requirements. eLoghomes EasyCabin™ log cabin kits include all materials needed to build the shell of your home, but the foundation work must be completed by the homeowner or contractor. This ensures your log cabin ADU is built to last on solid ground.

  • Can I rent out my ADU?

In many cases, yes. Homeowners often build an ADU to create a source of passive income. Your ability to rent out ADU log cabins depends on local zoning rules, so it’s best to confirm those before construction. If your property is part of a homeowners association or subject to CC&Rs, review those rules carefully, since they can limit or prohibit rentals even when zoning allows them. Local permitting requirements come next and may include setback limits, height restrictions, and occupancy rules.

Once all approvals are in place, your ADU log cabin can serve as a long-term rental or short-term vacation listing.

  • How long does it take to build a log cabin ADU?

Because eLoghomes EasyCabin™ ADU log cabins are predesigned, the process can move quickly from ordering to construction. Once your foundation and permits are ready, shell installation follows the same proven method as our standard models. Many property owners find this makes it easier to build an ADU efficiently and cost-effectively.

They’re engineered for 4-season comfort and fitted with Andersen 400 Series windows to improve efficiency. These ADU log cabins perform exceptionally well in all climates.
